Tool Setter

Proactive Personnel are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of their blue chip client in the Walsall area.

The main duties of the role is to implement work schedules and tasks to fulfil the Production Plan objectives of the Department. Combining achievement with service and within prescribed time constraints and to ensure effective compliance with all Departmental Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and that staff work within the requirements of the Company Rules

£11.50 per hour plus shift allowance £22.37 per week

The job role:

  • To play a prime role in the day to day organisation and operation of the Department having due regard to: -Requirements Plan, Target Achievement/Priority, Time Constraints. Tooling Availability, Material/Part Availability, Quality Requirements, Safety Needs, Health Needs
  • To ensure all quality requirements, procedures and directives are understood and implemented by yourself and your operators.
  • To ensure operatives are correctly instructed in what is expected from them in terms of production and quality requirements and operational procedures and safety in conformance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To ensure operatives are correctly trained to equip them to operate safely, efficiently and effectively within a total quality concept and understand and comply with documentation requirements.
  • To ensure all plant machinery and equipment within the Department is safe and operating satisfactory, otherwise to stop the process, report concern to H.O.D/ Senior Management and/or seek prompt cross functional support to resolve issues.
  • To ensure all tooling is safely and correctly set and performing within design parameters from first off approval through production batch SPC to last off, and is thereafter subject to condition check making rectification recommendations whilst ensuring tools are clean and free of excess oil prior to being placed into storage
  • To ensure conformance with specified requirements for batch codification, batch marking and recording and allocated storage bins are in a safe, stable condition and not posing a safety threat to others further down the manufacturing chain .
  • To ensure guarding records are maintained up to date in accordance with Statutory Legislation and Company requirements and to record notification of repair/rectification/remedial work required with the appropriate department and apply appropriate ‘Out of Use’ notices
  • To participate in continuous improvement/development and problem solving meetings/Toolbox talks encouraging Operator participation utilising team spirit and harmony,  Departmental co-operation and engagement.
  • To ensure all In Process Batch Cards are correctly completed detailing FULL part numbers, including all suffixes, recording accurate quantities, clear descriptions and being properly and safely packaged in accordance with specifications prior to being moved from the Department.
  • To delegate, as required and necessary via the HOD, to operatives within their personal abilities and training.

  • A Tool-making/Toolsetters/Engineering Qualification
  • Appropriate ROSPA or PUWER 98 Certification
